The World Could Be Different

Kindness is never enough
in a world with so much hatred,
as we all bare that malicious seed within us,
and too many people so easily answer its call,
that is why the world is as it is,
for if love was adopted in numbers,
then hatred would fade,
but unfortunately that is not the case,
and the spores of evil breed like rabbits,
and find their way to power
to continue the spread.
We may claim to be loving and compassionate,
yet if all of us were,
the world would be different, now,
the truth is that our indignation
from all that oppression and hatred
just fuels the circumstance,
and we are like pawns in a downward cycle,
believing in love, yet angered by hatred,
in a poignant irony,
our intentions placated by our responses,
a kind of innate hypocrisy.
Before we claim purity, innocence,
it is well we look within to see what fuels our own thoughts,
because if it were really true,
our cumulative thoughts would change the world for the better;
yet look what is happening,
who controls the world,
and the reality hits home with a vengeance,
a stark and horrific truth
that humbles us,
and if we want change, we first must change,
for there is always hope.

Yes, Tony. the change must start within ourselves and then it can gradually spread and hopefully become infrectious. Good poem.
Glad you enjoyed it John. Cheers!
Yes, there is always hope, Tony – and it must be born from what is within our own self. Love, honest soulful love, is the one thing that can bring the world together in peace and harmony. Well done, Tony.
Much appreciated Phyllis, pleased you enjoyed my thoughts.
Your poetic words are wonderful and speak the truth. There must be change in ourselves before we can attempt to try to change or expect change in this world.
Glad you connected Rasma, and I appreciated your comment. take care.
How true Tony..aren’t we all hypocrites to some extent believing in ideals yet falling short on executing them..maybe we are all getting influenced by what is going on in this competitive, selfish world..and as you said it would do a lot of good if each of us look within ourselves and see what thoughts motivates us..thank you so much for sharing Tony..very insightful
