As the Words Cease…What Then?

As the Words Cease....What Then?
As the Words Cease….What Then?

With a persistent endeavor,
words conclude and a work sits idle,
an earnest yearning to be viewed,
and the author sighs,
pleased it has ended,
yet lost within himself aside,
for what now replaces that commitment,
that striving ritual of day and night,
that plagued him, uplifted him
to rise each day with purpose,
immersed in the plethora of words
yet to be untangled,
and sealed upon a page,
in his name and thought.

This unveiling of joy and sadness mixed,
for all that held his mind at pitch,
somehow falls to a void,
and frantic the mind in sorting out what’s next,
what weighted theme or flight-ed dream
beckons his resolve, to write,
to fall into that flow
for days and weeks and months,
to experience all that fancy drags
a mind to witness,
and flow from pen to paper
in sentient mix of beauty’s path,
to share this one perfect love for language,
for thoughts connection.

A writer’s mind is an undulating emotional siege,
driven by inexplicable motives,
hard-wired within and impossible to rid,
and life is a sea of written and unwritten words
vying for attention,
and adoption of purpose is a perilous plight,
reality dismissed and mind in flight,
until each and every word is right,
beauty bleeding, truths alight,
and perfection is seen to exist just a stroke away,
a phrase so poignant,
a plot well laid and letters like notes sing
in melodies unheard,
inspiring everything.

That time between a good write and the next one can sure play with our mind. I often feel a loss when I have finished some work, Usually I have enough ideas to keep going, but there are times when my mind goes blank and leaves me wondering what to write next. Nicely penned work, Tony.

Very beautiful Tony…I think now I can relate to the bittersweet feeling after completing a write..feeling happy and empty at the same time…and my mind does go completely blank after some, especially after a write I feel satisfied about..I so dread that phase..lol..i so enjoyed reading this..I think the last few lines were very lovely..thank you so much for sharing

Thank you Anjana, so happy you enjoyed it; as writers we relate to all these feelings and experiences. Take care my friend.
