The Renaissance is Coming

A renaissance of values
sits with anticipation upon our horizon,
so much lost and mislead
on tangential paths,
as spiritual awareness seeps
into consciousness,
even animals
are responding to one another,
in ways we could never have imagined,
acceptance and connections
not by halves;
realizing what we all share,
as life is our binding claim,
and all our perceived differences
just clothing to our name.
There is a renaissance nearing,
a transformation from darkness to light,
I can see it, I can feel it,
but what we must endure before it,
a sad and unnecessary plight;
as they say until crisis,
paradigms remain unchanged,
but then at our lowest ebb,
will the need be all that remains,
to come together in one name, one cause,
to rid ourselves of religions
that all but try to end our reign,
to allow nature to lead us
and heal what we have so blatantly shamed,
in our quest of superiority.
There is to be a resurgence of spirit,
of love, of kindness and compassion,
so buried by malevolence,
so corrupting our decisions,
and when we strip away that evil,
the selfish greed and arrogance of belief,
there can be no other ideal
than the love that in safety we will keep;
and rebuild we must this tired and broken earth,
to where nature should have taken us,
if we had only listened to her worth,
and I wait with such hope,
for that cleansing to arrive,
knowing a world in paradise,
awaits those who will survive.

A thrill of chills ran up and down when I read your second stanza – the whole piece gives awareness of how humanity must start thinking and living every moment of our lives. It is in that second stanza that words grabbed hold my heart and soul: “to come together in one name, one cause, to rid ourselves of religions that all but try to end our reign, to allow nature to lead us …”, for this is what I hope and pray for. I believe nature is our only salvation. Oh my gosh! This gives me so much joy. I love it. Yes, “to allow nature to lead us”, it has been there all this time waiting for us. Beautiful piece Tony. Thank you.
Thanks so much Phyllis, its what I believe must happen in this screwed up world. I just hope we all survive the change to see what life could be like in peace. Cheers!
