Drowning, Breathing Water

Drowning, Breathing Water
Drowning, Breathing Water…lost to one’s self

Her thoughts were like bullets,
pinging in her consciousness,
and grasping them almost impossible,
yet she spoke, as if her subconscious mind took over,
spouting malice like a leaking dam;
and those who knew her were astonished,
for she had never before been true to herself,
exacting just what she wanted without fear of reproach,
because she had a confidence
that was silent for so many years,
and now from the darkness she came,
acidic thoughts and words in spray, vile
yet who she was all the time.

A wolf dressed in lambs clothing,
finally revealing her will,
she, like an open book, plagued by the wills of others,
open, vulnerable, naive and helplessly manipulated
by every negative intent,
to fuel her indignant stance,
her spoiled, demanding ignorance,
creating plights for gain, despite the toll,
the blood-letting of those who stood in her way;
and deluded she, to think herself righteous,
a mind in a twisted fairyland,
betraying love, betraying support to forge a path of greed,
all that she felt deserved, yet in no way worked for.

Such a simple and mindless path of evil she became,
open to all her own delusions and those of others
who would use her for their delusions,
their selfish take on life’s wants and needs,
and she, embellishing her new found freedom,
at the hands of others,
seen as her intent, her wishes fulfilled,
her truth so far from recognition,
no words or proof could move her from her plight,
lost from herself and all who once loved her,
she thrashes around like a fish on land,
convinced she can breath water,
in her new world, drowning environment.

Can she return to reality,
I think not, there is too much comfort in denial and delusion,
and what whole person would be left without it?
