A Gifted Accommodation

A Gifted Accommodation
A Gifted Accommodation…life’s paths of choice

So much I took for granted,
and tainted what could have been,
one touch, one moment,
the transformation of a mind, a dream,
a decision made in change
to turn a life to better horizons.

Each door a different universe awaits,
each moment an opportunity,
and if we choose not to open,
then what have we missed in perpetuity,
what fate has passed us by,
the bounty of life’s offering.

Often the paths are fraught with peril,
when glitter burns to ash,
and singed we may be in blind belief,
when reality turns to darkness, and truth dashed,
as we forge blindly directions unknown,
flailing like souls possessed.

Had I realized what choices meant,
what change could do to arrest my pain,
perhaps I would have been less flippant,
knowing the path I created was alone, my game,
and wise choices made life complete,
what I wanted within my reach.

So much I took for granted, so much I’ve lost,
yet the paths I’ve taken offer something else,
and there is solace in affirming,
what I have gleamed and felt,
is perhaps meant in the end,
life so gifted in its accommodation.

If only we knew where each door, each choice would lead … but then we would not experience that which is on our intended path and maybe not learn very much, or find what we are meant to find.
I like this poem Tony. Reflective and emotive.
