Tolerance…chosen

Tolerance
Tolerance…chosen

The older I get,
the less I will tolerate negativity,
and the more I recede from those of ill-intent,
resounding egos, manipulation and conspiracy
I do not need in my life,
so I withdraw to sanity, to a silent safe abode,
where sharing and happiness resides,
and love holds life together,
beauty the eyes of my paradigm.

With kindness I now cast aside
the dull and self-centered focus of ingrates,
who are immersed in their lowest form,
struggling to find an obvious light,
yet committed to harsh and malicious affronts,
venting their displeasure with who they are
at the expense of others,
who, tangled in their web of lies,
feel the brunt of vile disdain.

In age I now see their ploys and seething anger,
their restless unhappy lives blamed on all else
but the self, the true perpetrator of their circumstances,
and I’m done trying to save the world,
trying to redeem those who will not listen,
for it is their path of learning, not mine,
and I will not be part of the damage they cause,
so if love is not recognized,
I cannot do more,
and I find solace in my solitude.

Our paths are varied,
each one individual in content and necessity,
and who are we to judge,
yet we do have choice as to who resides in our lives,
and my tolerance sits at the pinnacle of my choices,
for I nourish myself, my needs in balance,
so that my life keeps to its chosen path,
and for me, love and beauty and gratitude
holds more than the forked tongues of struggling souls.

Tis well to kindly cast aside those who do not enrich your life. To follow your own chosen path is the best way to go. Nurture and love thy self. Well done, Tony.
