Spring Besotted

Besotted…light revived

Spring Besotted
Spring Besotted…the sun at last

Sunlight drips from a lone tap,
like time beating,
and then that surge of water rush,
frantic gushing freedom,
as sun pulls hard on clouds to part,
and blue skies trade their dull refrain
for springs glimmering heart,
and light, warm and affable,
floods, in crescendo of season’s turn.

I wake for blessings granted,
and find the blue, a rich and endless view,
filled with springs hope as light ignites
a world of dull hibernation;
and my covers fall from slumber’s grasp,
and feet find floor to explore through window,
a precious gift of sun filled delight,
the day that I’ve been waiting for,
the path of spring before us.

When sun does breach my small abode,
and drench my mind in vigour,
I wake with such a heart-filled purpose
and rush to feel its giving, upon my pale skin;
to revive my slumbered winter mind,
and beckon life to stir in kind,
this turn of page so welcomed,
this warmth I’d so forgotten,
in spring I’m now besotted.

    I’ve made a few feeble stabs at poetry, but it’s just not my forte at all. You, however, are a master.

    Yes, you area master of poetry, Tony. Spring is a sign of hope and rebirth, new beginnings – and your tribute to this lovely season is wonderful.
