On Pond, Awaken

On pond in morning light,
as if a diamond fiesta sprinkled plight,
shimmering, rippled waters might
just awaken slumbered minds.
And as the light does imbue the day,
and yawning life still drowsy lay,
to align their minds to prospect’s play
and recall their purpose given.
Then movement begins all stretched and stiff,
with eyes in awe of every gift,
and grumbled stomachs growl to shift
attention to their needs.
In paradise a day begins,
and all awake now at peace within,
to follow hearts and placate all sins,
and honor this dream called life.
And willows bend to meet the pond,
in delicate touch with every frond,
and birds do sing and chatter on,
discuss the day in season’s apt reply.
And sun does rise and grasp the sky,
to turn it gently in mother’s eye,
and time evokes an afferent lie,
as life beats out in heart.
And no-one questions, no-one feels,
a doubt of ache, unjust the wheels
that turn as life ensues and peals
away the strife and labor.
For on the pond, in rising day,
life does smile come what may,
as gifts outweigh what struggles say,
and being a dream of beauteous, awesome flight.

I love the rhythm and rhyme in this verse, Tony. You chose the perfect picture for this lovely poem. I feel like I am sitting there under the tree watching and listening to life on the pond awaken. Beautiful imagery, well done.
Thanks Phyllis, every day is a new adventure, a new opportunity to take to heart. Glad you appreciated the thoughts.
