Nighttime Magic

nighttime

The night comes sprinkling,

nighttime magic,

making my heart so full,

of passion and longing.

Can it be that so many stars,

Stretch across the endless night sky.

Lonely people,

feel lonelier in the night,

while they stroll all alone,

past those holding hands,

the sounds of music

and a pulsating night scene,

seems to lonely people,

but an unreachable dream.

When it seems that no one is around,

when there is no sound,

the night covers you,

like a velvet cloak

and upon the moon and the stars,

you can sail away

and dream.

In a city with neon lights,

night holds a fascination,

of many sights and sounds.

If dark night clouds,

should a rainfall bring,

city streets glisten like magic,

the colorful puddles,

like mirrors reflect neon lights

and we tend not to see –

the dirt and the grime.

The unhappy that fill the streets,

in the light of day,

take off their weary masks

and put on happy faces,

as the last of a purple twilight disappears.

We dream special dreams,

that nighttime magic brings.

Marvel at the moon and the stars,

long into the night,

until the sun rays,

peeking over the horizon,

shine into our eyes.

Lovers treasure the close of day,

when they can be together,

alone like two ships,

tossed by the waves,

of a sea like molten silver,

reflected by the light of the silvery moon.

Every night performs its magic,

as the sun sets,

drawing a curtain,

across the city.

Noises are muffled,

in the darkness,

while spirits come out,

dancing across night skies.

If you listen carefully,

the night wind,

plays a haunting melody.

Alone down tree shaded paths,

there might be a loving friend,

walking beside you,

keeping you safe,

till the morning light,

takes them away on their heaven’s flight.

Lovers settled down,

to dance and to romance,

until the dawning of a new day –

takes the nighttime magic away.

Such a beautiful verse depicting a lovely moonlit night. I can vividly see the glistening street after the rain. Very nicely penned, Rasma.

I think sometimes that our visions of something magic may be the only surprise left unopened Rasma , as I age I find less magic in human contacts and more in nature , yesterday I observed an owl in nature just a few feet away from me , Also , spring has arrived in your old homelands ………..:-} Beautiful words my friend !
