My Chosen Life

My Chosen Life
My Chosen Life…listening to myself

Chosen… my inner voice

Enamored I with the flow of words,
that a soul in respect does utter in solemn whispers,
to alert us of our would-be folly,
our stubborn, willful paths of righteous fall.

They ring so sound in our empty void,
when decisions in the wake of blind abandon,
do turn and twist as they burn,
and we having ignored our most sacred soul, do learn.

Time I wish I could control,
go back and rescind my foolish pride,
yet the learning as it stings, also lets me know why,
and perhaps I’ll not be so reckless again.

The soul does utter beauty in its outpouring,
if only I would in the moment, listen,
not run the gauntlet, go the mile,
to see how far I fall.

I am a man, an imperfect being,
and I hope my path to mellow, even straighten,
yet these plights would not be mine,
if I did not need them.

So I beg forgiveness and will listen more,
to what I tell myself,
and hope the answers ring true and bring,
me closer to my chosen life.

‘Yet these plights would not be mine, if I did not need them…’ To recognize, forgive oneself, and learn. To aim for the straighter path, as best we can. Again, I really appreciate the candour here, as it does flow from the heart in all of its poignant beauty. Very well done.

    Best,
