Eternal Wish
Soft, the thoughts of you,
gentle on my mind
like the embrace of a cloud,
billowing in the forever blue,
and your skin like a silken warm response,
to my every yearning touch,
your place beside me so empty, so bereft,
when you are gone.
Why does love fill a heart so completely,
that days like time meld and fall away,
until that moment we are together,
and thrilled I am in your arms,
my every sense alive with anticipation,
your tender lips a provocation
to become lost within you,
your soul my cradled joy.
Life moves with a viscous lethargy,
each step, each task a dragging feet,
for the lightness of being only exists with you,
my clumsy steps repeating
the beating of my heart so blue, without you,
and so I wait, held of breath,
until you walk in that door,
and find my open arms, my depth.
I wish the world would just rest, out of time,
so our lives could be free just to be, together,
and love would rule our world,
in a perfection of being,
seeing only love’s favour,
and the joy we find in each other
to chime like bells on high,
announcing eternal bliss.

Oh my gosh, Tony – so very romantic and absolutely beautiful. What a marvelous side of you reflected in this lovely verse.
We have increased the number of poems each poet can add to the list for our book. I hope you add this one.
Thanks Phyllis, how many more do you need? I can add anything you like. Cheers!
As many as you want, Tony. You have over 300, which is enough to cover the whole thing. LOL Epiphany of Creation, for sure. Your life lessons are great and beneficial for all who read them. Your weather reports are vivid and well liked. Gosh, as many as you like, Tony. We hope to have at least 200 or more to have a really good cross section of type, mood, inspiration, form, category. Thanks.
Tony, we may not need a lot more poems. John is thinking about setting a deadline for submissions. We have 106 poems now and at least two more people will be submitting their lists. I do hope you add Eternal Wish and Epiphany of Creation, though, and any others you want.
That’s fine Phyllis, add those two and if you need any more let me know. Cheers!
Thank you, Tony
Beautiful choice. A well written examination of love. Jamie
