The Yearning…the ache of a heart alone

Yearning…the search for love

The Yearning
The Yearning…the ache of a heart alone

The yearning aches like an autumn leaf,
orange strewn, all dried to the wind,
with not a destination but cold decay;
and so my heart elicits hope,
that love will become my dawn,
and summer days forlorn
will rekindle my tomorrow.

The ache ascends in silent dark, alone,
watching shadows dance through windows,
and reach I do for empty space,
where flesh and heart did brew;
that sinking feel, so pervades my will,
weakened to a maudlin state,
desperate for renewal.

Echoes are the lies been told,
the hearts broken and torn by betrayal,
they taunt my sleep my dreams all soured,
and yet I yearn for love’s sweet breath
to let me breathe once more,
to invite this crusted heart to forgive,
and try to live, again.

May slumber find me willing,
these thoughts relent on silent dark release,
just to rest this ache, this poignant fate,
that softens my resolve,
and take my dream unto heaven’s gate,
and post it on the board of ‘For Sale,
to entice an angel saving grace.
