The Antagonist

The Antagonist…never their fault

The Antagonist
The Antagonist…a deluded mind

What hell hath you brought to my table,
the malice and broken truths you proffer,
and all the while you cry the victim,
faultless to a tee,
yet only you can prosper.

What storm you brought, your every pasted word,
planned to elicit an army strong,
of your deeply vindictive lies, absurd
your sound belief in delusion,
all that you’ve contrived.

And still you deflect your wrong upon your victim,
swear of innocence, white and pure,
your blackened heart unbeknownst yourself,
simply what you in life endure,
as the victim of all else.

Responsibility has never been your way,
rather forging paths with others
to do your bidding, take the strain,
so you in comfort of security,
may plot your next foray.

Oh the tears, the weeping victim plea,
to find the hearts of the foolish,
who not knowing will shoulder your cry,
and the stories you tell of how mistreated you’ve been,
when tis you who attack for your own reward,
cannot live in truth, no matter what you purport,

So sad your deluded mind, lost within itself,
your narcissism so sublime,
as if the truth you wear as a belt,
to hold in the burgeoning lies
that keep you from dealing with yourself.

How sad that some just cannot confront their self and choose to not see truths. Reality is an unfamiliar world to them. Very well penned verse, Tony.

Much appreciated Phyllis, and so many people live a life of delusion, just to not have to face the truth about themselves. Sad.

These lines speak truths of certain behavior types. This are the words that may make a difference. Jamie

Thanks Jamie, I believe my fate as a poet to include bringing truth relating to the human condition and all behavior is fodder for my pen. This one is based on my ex-wife, who’s lost her way and blaming all else for it. She of course will never see the truth. But its good that readers may relate and recognize these behaviors. Cheers!
