The more I live, the less
living in this world of illusion
matters in itself,
and the more I know that the soul,
our true self, is all that requires nurture,
all that benefits from this crusted physical life.
Physical life is pain,
because pain is our teacher,
and pleasure is just an incentive to remain,
until the soul in learning
has had enough
to shed the shell and move on.
One can live in the physical, learn, not learn,
experience joy, suffering, loss and greed,
yet all are just the wheels of learning,
battering down the doors of ego
to elicit some balance,
some bearable existence.
Beyond the suffering in life, there is the soul,
the residence of our true selves,
gleaning the pain and the joy
to fulfil our purpose of ascension,
the spiritual path of love
to be our final earthy fate, before transition.
Embracing the spiritual path
necessitates far less pain and misery,
the uplifting through love our greatest teacher of all,
and the lower physical expressions
of hatred, anger, jealousy and greed,
but small stones on an upward path.
Misery exists because we need its circumstance,
to move beyond this shell,
this lethargic physical life,
and learn to fly as a soul,
freed from the constraints of negativity
and the burden of not acknowledging love fully.
