Tell Me True
Hatred …
Tell me, tell me clear,
has there ever been security,
the knowing of safety in this world,
when men are warriors, innate,
and primordial propensities
are surfaced with little provocation?
Tell me, tell me true,
has there ever been love in this world,
true unconditional love
that ceases not from a whim,
or is burned by salacious will
and a disloyalty of selfishness?
Tell me, tell me now,
is there any hope of our survival,
when war is commonplace,
and difference the seed of hatred,
where hope is dashed by narcissists,
bent on gain and nothing else?
Tell me, tell me please,
that the news is all a lie,
and good can deserve a place in thought,
not cast aside for hatred’s stand,
and oppression is a constant state of being,
in a world lost to its own greed?

So many questions we have that may never be answered. I still hold hope and promise for this world and carry my lantern high in hopes I can help this world find peace. One lantern can light another and another and on …
How blessed it would be to see peace in our lifetime. This is such a soul-stirring verse, Tony, and very well penned.
Glad you enjoyed it Phyllis, wouldn’t it be nice…peace.
