Struggling Light

Struggling Light

light

Despite the light,
that glimmers through the darkest night,
in spite the sight of light’s delight
as bright it may be, I fight
this plight, this narrow ugly might
that haunts the right so instilled,
in mindless trite and peevish thoughts held tight,
to breath the truth that bites,
I still fall to that void of dark resentment.

For if light is relented,
before it even entered, how centred could I be,
when darkness presented
simply blurs what’s already rendered,
and what good can be ventured,
in a light-less world surrendered,
I must be demented, surely,
to relent on all that’s good,
yet a I fall again, tormented.

Why does darkness haunt me,
cast tripping stones that stall me,
and all I want is my story to make some sense;
so strongly felt this body,
this mind in constant quandary,
of light I felt so fondly,
now shadows in the halls,
that dim those lights of glory,
I ponder this so strongly,
and even now I hold some hope
that light prevails.

Light will prevail Tony, because you are a man who embraces the stars, and beyond. Shadows can only fade away. Nice rhyming here. Well done, my friend.
