Cycles…

Cycles…falling and getting up.

I fall more than I rise, and sometimes
there is a weight unknown
that keeps this souls in abeyance,
unable to take one more breath of struggle;
but the light always comes in the eleventh hour,
always reinvents my endurance to ensue,
to remain in the path of transcendence.

I am without answers, relying on intuition and hope,
yet much comes to me without pursuit,
and I am grateful for knowledge, for acceptance,
when life is so complex
and I so impotent to the truths that matter,
the realities that I yearn to grasp,
balances yet to find.

My saving grace the openness to consider,
when biases and judgement plead silence,
and so my plate is clean, my past only remnants,
and the best I can I avoid assumption,
knowing that this is an irresistible folly,
fraught with traps to find balance in a war of thought,
a contentious foray of resolution.

I fall so much I find weightlessness a freedom,
and getting up just a cycle’s end,
so I persist in my quests of understanding,
for what good is life left to the throw of dice,
when responsibility carves pathways
of both pain and learning,
all for the betterment of a soul.

I pray you keep getting back up, Tony. I would be bereft of joy if I could not read your poetry every day. May you hold on to your “saving grace” and let that be a helping hand, always there for you. Very thoughtful and well-penned verse, Tony.

Thanks Phyllis, you are kind and I guess that is what it is to be human, we just keep getting back up and move on. Not so easy sometimes but that’s the point, how we learn. Take care.

You do inspire so many Tony, myself included. When I fall, and I do, I often think of your writings that somehow flow effortlessly with profound truth, and encouragement. Thank you.

    Best,
    Mel

Glad you relate and it helps Mel. I fall many times and continue to do so, proving that we are imperfect beings and lessons are best served cold, amid our repeating transgressions. Thank you for your kindness. Take care.

I cant tell you how many times Ive fallen and gotten up Tony. Ive been an athlete most of my life, taken the hard knocks and injuries that plague most athletes. My life has been cycles and chapters as Im sure yours has as well. When I fall I usually get up stronger, in writing, I just have to read fellow writers like yourself and know the great efforts you have made to be the craftsman you are with words, so yes, my friend you too do inspire me as well. Keep writing, keep inspiring us.
