If I Could Go Back In Time
If I could go back in time
What would I do
In those precious moments that I have lost
I have thought about this many times
And often wondered
Is it worth going back again
After all the miles that I have crossed
Is it worth thinking about bygone times
But then I think about the happy times
Times that I have enjoyed so much
And when I do
It makes me want to go back again
But then the sad heartbreaking moments
Makes me think of whether I want to go back at all
Back down the very same lanes
Lanes that I have crossed
Now
That brings me back to the question
What will I do
If I do get back those precious moments
I will
Make right things I could have
But did not
Do all the things I could have
But did not
Say sorry for the many times that I should have
But had not
Connect with long lost friends
Enjoy each and every moment
Appreciate even more
Whatever God blessed me with
Value all relationships
Realize how precious life is
I guess
This realization comes with time and age
Experience teaches us at every stage
And so my dear friends
These are my thoughts
We should live life to the fullest
For each moment is a precious snapshot

Hi Nithya. How very nice to read your first poem here. I often wonder what I would do if I could go back in time. Fun to ponder on. I enjoyed your poem.
Phyllis Doyle Burns thank you and am glad you enjoyed. Time travel will definitely help to find out what we would do in those moments!
Welcome and very nicely emoted and expressed, those thoughts of past, the good and bad. Regret is counter-productive as it is with experience that we create a better present to influence the future. Great work
Tony De Lorger thank you for your warm welcome. Yes, as you say regret is counter-productive and we should keep going on taking with us all the experiences that we have had in life and learn from them.
Hi Nithya, this is a wonderful first poem on The Creative Exiles. I have often contemplated how I would do things differently if I could go back in time. However if unless I retained the things I know now, it would be a waste of time because I would probably still make the same mistakes. Live for the present is better advice than worrying about the past.
Hi John, yes you are right living for the present is definitely better than worrying about the past but sometimes I wonder.
Nithya, Nice , very nice , something we all think about and hopefully not TOO much . Thank you for sharing this .
EdF thank you. Thinking of it now and then is totally fine but as you say not too much.
Nithya,
Very beautiful and thought provoking. Makes me wonder. Welcome to TCE.
WmKovacic thank you for the warm welcome and appreciation.
Welcome Nithya Venkat to the site, I look forward to reading more of your wonderful work. To go back in time would certainly be a life changing experience for this poet, there is so much I would change. I would leave the demons in hell and finally find peace for my soul.
Vincent Moore thank you for the warm welcome and yes it would be a life changing experience.
I think we all would like to go back in time and perhaps change some directions we foolishly made. This is a thought provoking piece. I enjoyed reading your free verse.

Hi! Ruby! Nice to see you here. Thank you for your visit and am glad you enjoyed the read.
Nithya
Very beautiful Nithya. I have had these same thoughts so often, probably everyday without thinking, wishing I had done better or more or just relieve what was so very good. A really enjoyable read, very well done.
Jackie Lynnley thank you, I guess many of us do feel the same.
