My Perspective

My perspective is heightened …

The Music Man/ Artwork by Wayne Barrett

In the still quiet
You can hear my heartbeat
From the far side of the room
The titanium clicking
Echoing through my wired chest
My internal clock ticking
Time tapping me on the shoulder
Reminding me that tomorrow
Is not the day to enjoy.

My Perspective
Is Awakened

Like the notes of music
Making love to silence
Born from my lover
Seducing her piano
Fingering the ivories
Sending treble clef floating
To settle in my glass
So I drink my wine
In the key of C.

My Perspective
Is Heightened

Like my guitar string
Is tightened
And I strum while I sing
A little ditty lapping
Off the tip of my tongue
As my lover gets dancy
And she swirls in close
So the words from my song
Can tickle her fancy.

My Perspective
Is Endeared

To the beat of my heart
To the beat of my music
To enjoy this day
To swing and sway
To dance the night away
To love my love
My love I love
I love my life
I love because…

My Perspective
Has Changed

Love the artwork – wonderful to be able to connect your writing with a picture…gotta admit I’m a little jealous. Very nice progression on perspective evolving.

Thank you Phyllis. as soon as I wrote this poem that particular painting came to mind. I used a picture of me and my wife as a model for the piece.

Nicely constructed Wayne, and a glimpse of the man: the wants, the needs and the love held and given,
Nicely emotive and revealing. great work.

What a wonderful world of Perspectives you revolve around Wayne, a true artist in every sense of the word. Not only do you paint your feelings on canvas, but you also musically express them in words. You sir are a sensitive soul. I’ve always reflective on who I was and what I’ve become, now The Quiet Man, when once my heart and soul was reckless and filled with anger. You soothe me sir with your poetry. I also saw your lady as he moved in tune to yours. Swirling and caressing around your as you played to her. Two in tune with each others heart, it doesn’t get any better than that. Bravo, this is a masterful piece and of course your art seduced the subject of love.

Thank you Vincent. As you might gather from the mention of the ticking heart, I wrote this with thoughts of surviving an aneurysm. To be alive and to be able to love and dance and breath… yes, it certainly has changed my perspective.
